Free Speech and Universities:
A Conversation with Sophia Rosenfeld
Hosted by Beth S. Wenger
In two recent New York Times pieces, Walter H. Annenberg Professor and Chair of History Sophia Rosenfeld has reflected on the challenges of getting free speech right at a time when speech on campus is being hotly debated—both inside universities and in the public realm—and boundaries are being tested in new ways. Who can speak, what we can we say, and what are the power structures shaping our speech are among the fundamental questions that are playing out across the country and here on our own campus.
Associate Dean for Graduate Studies Beth S. Wenger will lead Sophia Rosenfeld in a conversation examining the purpose, history, and challenges of open expression on campus
