Katie BarottHouse Fellow
Dr. Katie Barott is an Assistant Professor in the Biology Department in the School of Arts and Sciences, where she teaches Marine Biology and Introductory Biology. Katie is a marine biologist, and runs a research group that studies the biology of tropical corals and how they respond to environmental stress. Her work includes everything from scuba diving on remote coral reefs to spending countless hours in a dark room conducting experiments on coral cells under the microscope.
Katie lives in Class of 25 with her family, which includes her husband Byron (also a Gregory College House Fellow), their two young children - Dylan Rose (3) and baby Marley - and their great dane Duke. Having recently moved to Philadelphia from Hawaii, you may notice some hints of the islands in and around their apartment. They love to share food, music, and spend as much time as possible exploring the great outdoors.
