| Mara holds a Ph.D. in History of Science and a Master's degree in Biology from Harvard University, as well as a Master's in Education and B.A. degrees in Biology and Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is a 2008-2010 Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania and an Assistant Professor of English at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research interests include sound studies; disability studies; science and literature; and the history and politics of telecommunications, biotechnology, and digital media. She has been an Associate Faculty Fellow at Gregory and Ware for the last three years.
