As Director of College Houses & Academic Services, Senior Fellow Leslie Delauter greatly values life in Gregory, which (in her humble opinion) exemplifies what college house community should be. When she's not overseeing the College Houses, Leslie advises first and second year students in the College of Arts and Sciences. She has a Ph.D. in English from U.C. Berkeley, where she studied early American literature, with special attention given to Emerson, Melville, Hawthorne and other antebellum writers. These days her intellectual preoccupations include theology and environmental issues; she also has a secret ambition to become a naturopathic nutritionist as a second career. She still manages to read a book now and then, when time allows, and she'll want to know what you've been reading lately, so be prepared. A lot of her spare time is spent crocheting and making soup for a downtown soup kitchen (maybe you'd like to help!). Leslie lives with her partner of 20 years, Nora Johnson, who is a tenured English professor at Swarthmore College, as well as their cats Jimmie and Francie.
