Don’t worry about being bleary-eyed or wearing your shirt inside out; borderline catonia is par for the course. In addition to standbys like bagels, cereal, donuts, coffee, etc, brunches usually feature pancakes, eggs, waffles, and other goodies cooked up by Gregory residents. | | | | | Scenes of Teaching: "To Sir, With Love" | | | When:

A cool turn by Sidney Poitier as a teacher in a majority white working-class school in East London. Mark Thackeray is an engineer who takes a teaching post as a stopgap and ends by teaching his students the value of education and self-respect. This portrait of a heroic teacher is made all the better by great 1960s street fashion as well as the title song, “To Sir, with Love,” which reached number one on the U.S. pop chart. Lulu, who performed the song, appears in the film as one of Mark Thackeray’s tough cases.
**This film screening counts toward the accredited Film Culture Program, so a short discussion will follow. All are welcome.

While he is waiting for a transplant which may (or may not) save his life, he has nothing better to do than look at the people around him, from the balcony of his Paris apartment. IT'S ALL IN A DAY Film Series
Groundhog Day
(US, 1993)
101 minutes
Directed by: Harold Ramis
Starring: Bill Murray, Andie MacDowell, and Chris Elliott.
Bill Murray is at his wry, wisecracking best in this riotous romantic comedy about a weatherman caught in a personal time warp on the worst day of his life. Teamed with a relentlessly cheerful producer (Andie MacDowell) and a smartaleck cameraman (Chris Elliott), TV weatherman Phil Connors (Bill Murray) is sent to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, to cover the annual Groundhog Day festivities. But on his way out of town, Phil is caught in a giant blizzard, which he failed to predict, and finds himself stuck in small-town hell. Just when things couldn't get worse, they do. Phil wakes the next morning to find it's Groundhog Day all over again... and again... and again.
