First Study Break!
When: Wednesday, September 09, 2009 at 10:30 PM
 Where: Piano Lounge
With the first day of class comes the semester's first study break! Since the dawn of time, Gregory has hosted Wednesday study breaks; the crowds are large, the tone is informal, and the food, well, sinful (we do try to have a few healthy alternatives here and there). Our advice? Don’t sit around waiting for the email reminder; you know where and when to go, so be ready to beat out the hungry masses for the best grub. And once you’ve stocked up, have a seat and chat awhile; it’s a study break, after all. Please bring your own plates and mugs.

First Sunday Brunch!
When: Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 12:00 PM
 Where: Greenhouse
The lazy weekend equivalent of the study break, Brunches take place on every Sunday. Don’t worry about being bleary-eyed or wearing your shirt inside out; borderline catonia is par for the course. In addition to standbys like bagels, cereal, donuts, coffee, etc, brunches usually feature pancakes, eggs, waffles, and other goodies cooked up by Gregory residents.

Announcements
Gregory Summer Information

Gregory College House is closed from noon, May 19th until 9 AM on August 30th.  The House Office is open during regular weekday office hours--except between July 3 and July 12th-- though the DVD library is unavailable until Fall semester.

If you wish to see your future room over the summer, contact us and we'll do our best to arrange a quick visit based on staff availability; be aware that rooms may not yet be cleaned or might be in the middle of repairs.

Note that the regular move-in date for incoming freshmen is Thursday, September 3rd; the regular move-in date for upperclassmen is Saturday, September 5th.  Early move-in at a per-day cost is generally available through the Office of Housing and Conference Services.

Information for Incoming Gregory freshmen

Welcome to Gregory!  Over the summer, reliable sources for information about the House are:
Van Pelt Manor freshmen (including Film Culture Program freshmen) are all located on the third and fourth floors.  All are in quad rooms (four bedrooms and a bathroom).

Modern Languages Program freshmen are located on the second, third and fourth floors of Class of 1925; those halls have both freshmen rooms and upperclass rooms.  Most freshmen are in quads (four bedrooms and a bathroom); a few are in quads with living rooms.  Rooms and floors are not specifically designated for individual languages; your roommates may be interested in any (or even all) of the different language groups.

Gregory will have somewhere between 110-125 freshmen, of whom roughly 60 will be in MLP or FCP.

Like Computers? Apply to be an ITA!

If you enjoy fixing computers and helping people, consider applying to be an Information Technology Advisor (ITA)! ITAs staff the computer labs and help Gregory residents set up their computers, network connections, email accounts, and provide general computing support. Some of the benefits include competitive wages, a convenient location (work in your own college house), and the opportunity to play a more active role in the Gregory community. If you don't think you have much technical experience, don?t worry! ITAs will receive paid training before New Student Orientation (move-in early for free!) and throughout the year. We are looking for enthusiastic people who have great customer service skills. If interested, please submit the online application at http://www.rescomp.upenn.edu/ITAApp/ by June 30th although late applications will be considered on a case by case basis. Due to College House Computing policies, we anticipate that most positions will be filled by work-study applicants, but non work-study students are strongly encouraged to apply! For more information about the ITA program or computing at Gregory, please visit the College House computing website (http://www.rescomp.upenn.edu) or contact the Gregory ITA Managers, Nasri Bou-Saba (nasri@seas.upenn.edu) and Michael Lee (mly@seas.upenn.edu).
